Byeol Kim is active between Germany and South Korea. She is a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony and studies with Prof. Marc Bouchkov at Folkwang University of the Arts.

From Seoul to Frankfurt

Violinist Byeol Kim is based between Germany and South Korea. She is a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony and is pursuing her master’s degree at Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, where she studies with Prof. Marc Bouchkov. She earned her Bachelor of Music from Korea National University of Arts under Younguk Kim.

Her distinctions include first prizes at the IMM International Music Competition in Italy and the New York International Music Competition (NYIMC), as well as the New Jersey Permanent Representative Award.

Her festival appearances include the Boswil Festival in Switzerland, Music in PyeongChang, and performances with the SAC Festival Orchestra at the 2026 Seoul Arts Center International Music Festival. Selected as a young artist through auditions by Tongui-dong Classic, Drawing the Music, and Aulus, she has presented solo recitals in Seoul.

Kim built her orchestral foundations in South Korea as a member of Orchestra The Original and through engagements with the Solasian Youth Orchestra, Pohang Festival Orchestra, and Ansan Philharmonic Orchestra. As an Academy member of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, she has performed at the Kulturpalast Dresden, Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Rudolfinum’s Dvořák Hall in Prague, and L’Auditori Barcelona. She has also appeared at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg with the NDR Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Driven by a deep commitment to artistic growth, Kim has continued to refine her musicianship through masterclasses with distinguished artists and pedagogues including Julia Fischer, Mi-Kyung Lee, Daniel Gaede, Daniel Bell, Annette Unger, Min Jung Park, Mark Kaplan, Solomia Soroka, Jennifer Koh, Fumiaki Miura, and Aaron Berofsky.
